The folk dancing group was formed after 25 years of polka/waltz classes taught by Bill and Jackie Dorfner. The present German Folk Dancing Group has been in existence for almost 2 years now.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, folk dancing has been suspended, however during "normal times", we meet once a month, usually on the fourth Monday of the month from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., 8 months out of the year from January to May and September to November. We charge $5.00/person and all proceeds go to the Teutonia Building Fund.
We try to have a guest instructor at each session who teaches a typical folk dance from the Germanic countries. After learning the new dance, we go over previously-learned dances.
We always welcome new members, whether a couple or a single. Come and check us out. We like to think of it as “German aerobics” – getting exercise while having fun. Our mantra is: “Some mistakes are too much fun to make just once.”
